Our Team of Wind Music Professionals
Mr. Vincent Goh - Clarinet
Vincent Goh started playing the clarinet at the age of 12 when he first joined the school band. He studied with Professor Dr. David Lewis,who was then pricipal clarinetist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. He won top prize in National Music competition,and the same year he was awarded a SSO scholarship to study Music performance at Ohio University,USA. While in the US, he also took lessons with Franklin Cohen, principal clarinetist of the Cleveland Orchestra. He joined the SSO after he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with High honor.
Of the 22 years he was with the SSO, he had performed with the orchestra in europe, japan and USA. He had played under world renowned conductors like Lorin Maazel and Edo de Waart,and top class soloist like YoYo Ma and Gordon Hunt. He had also performed solo concertos with the SSO, Singapore Youth Orchestra, SAF Central Band and Nanyang Girls' Secondary String Orchestra.
He has been coaching the clarinet section of various ensemble to help shoehorn their skills in ensemble playing. Orchestras and bands he had worked with include the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, SAF central Band, NUS wind symphony, Nanyang Girls' Secondary Band, Cresent Girls' Band and Raffles Girls' Band. Currently he is coaching the NUS Symphony, Catholic High and Cedar Girls' Secondary.
